Curated Treasury: "Forest in Moonlight"

Our featured Etsy treasury, "Forest in Moonlight", is curated by Wincsike, an "optimistic dreamer" from Hungary. Wincsike's Etsy shop, Wincsike, features her handmade dream catchers, jewelry and accessories.

"I love simplicity, naturalness and beauty."

"I love the softness of yarn, the play on colors."

Wincsike uses yarn, fabric, leather, feathers and simple wooden
beads to design her dream catchers, jewelry and accessories. Why does Wincsike create dream catchers?

"The Ojibwe believe that a dreamcatcher changes a person's dreams. 'Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through… Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day. Good dreams would pass through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper.'

Seems to me like dreamcatchers came back in style. They are very decorative in the bedroom or even nursery."

Please take the time to browse Wincsike on Etsy.

We also encourage you to take the time to visit the shops of the artists featured in this treasury, explore the variety of their work, and learn more about them.

Curated Treasury: "Wishes and Desires"

Our featured Etsy treasury, "Wishes and Desires", is curated by Silvy Staly, from the Etsy shop, DolcheTodolche, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In DolcheTodolche, Silvy Staly features one of a kind lamp shades to bring the magic of light into your home. Silvy makes all of her lampshades, with love and with .... some magic.

Silvy is a visual artist who describes herself as, "A dreamer in love with painting, and a person who wants to give some light to this world."

"When it's grey outside, when it's blue in our hearts ... on such days we need inspiration for life: we need signs, we need love and magic, we need some luck, a good word, we need the magic of Art."

Art, in Silvy's words, is passion, someone's inspiration coming into physical form, someone's emotions, someone's energy.

"In this world when everything is machine made, where the amount of plastic is greater than an ocean, where dreams are cheap, where every wish can be reached in the local hypermarket, where things don't have heart.....there ......we need Art."

Silvy's passion is lampshades. And the magic of light that she shares through DolcheTodolche is a wonderful gift that she is giving us all.

Please take the time to browse DolcheTodolche on Etsy.

Curated Treasury: "You never bore me"

Our featured Etsy treasury, "You never bore me", is curated by Maaike van Nierop, of Assen, Netherlands. Maaike's Etsy shop, maaikevannierop, features her original drawings and postcards.

Maaike works mostly with ink and acrylic paint. All the paintings and postcards in maaikevannierop are originals.

"My paintings are little stories, told in paint, or maybe illustrations for untold tales.

What I love about them the most is that it's not just me telling the story, but the paint as well.

Some of the techniques I use are a little experimental, I press things in the paint, hold the paintigs upside down, mix my own pigments with acrylic binder.

This way, even though I usually have a plan when I start painting, I still don't know how the painting will be, the paint speaks too, so the end result is a surprise sometimes."

Please take the time to browse maaikevannierop on Etsy.

We also encourage you to take the time to visit the shops of the artists featured in this treasury, explore the variety of their work, and learn more about them.

Curated Treasury: "l o o p"

Our featured Etsy Treasury today, "l o o p", is from Gavin, an Etsy member, and treasury curator, from Singapore. Gavin creates elegant, lush, artistic, and beautiful treasuries.

Gavin has been an Etsy member since 2010, and, even though he does not have a shop on Etsy, he is an avid treasury creator. Gavin often curates at least one treasury a day, sometimes more.

What is it that drew Gavin to creating treasuries on Etsy?

"I needed a creative outlet ... and etsy presented a ready platform."

Gavin states that he has, "no art background except rudimentary art lessons in my secondary school years." Gavin has a natural, artistic, sense. His eye for composition, and color, are superb. His masterful curations have garnered him a following of over 3,000 Etsy members.

"I'm a bit overwhelmed by the positive response to my work here."

We're so glad that Gavin continues to create, and share, his treasuries with all of us.

Curated Treasury: "Morning.."

Our featured Etsy Treasury today, "Morning..", is from Irit Avraham, from Karmi'el, Israel. Irit is the owner of the vintage shop MeshuMash, and the jewelry and fashion shop MoreThanPrettyThings.

Irit opened MeshuMash in 2011. Irit discovered Etsy in 2010, when she was looking for a place to sell her originnals paintings, her main art form at the time.

"Since being a young girl, school craft classes were my favorites. I am excited about many kinds of crafts, using new and old materials.

My vintage shop is one path of this journey, and this adventure brought many wonderful things into my life. I love creating out of new and left over things, flea markets fill me with joy, I have met so many wonderful people in my traveling, and was thrilled by things I thought time had forgotten."

Finding treasures from the past, nostalgic from my childhood, my mother and grandma house. Both were teaching me cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting. They grew up in a world that didn't have so much, so they found a way to re-use things, transform daily simple stuff into jewelry, for example."

After opening MeshuMash, Irit started creating jewelry, and some knitting and fabric art, combining all the influences she had experienced over the years. In 2013, Irit opened MoreThanPrettyThings, a showcase for her handmade Bohemian jewelry and fashion, upcycled clothing and fashion accessories.

"I meet so many wonderful people while looking for new treasures for the shop [MeshuMash]. Everywhere I go these days, have something for me.

I get inspired by so many things, colors, urban architecture, a leaf on the ground, a story, people.

A special attention is given to the materials and color combinations into a high quality finished product. This is my Fashion Vision for Women of all Ages, its what I like to wear."

Please take the time to browse both of Irit's shops, MeshuMash and MoreThanPrettyThings, on Etsy.

We encourage you to visit all of the shops and artists featured in this treasury, explore the variety of their work, and learn more about them.

Curated Treasury: "once upon a dream"

Our featured Etsy Treasury today is a little different. Instead of being curated by an Etsy shop owner, "once upon a dream" is curated by an avid Etsy fan, dmers, of Arch Cape, OR.

An Etsy member since 2007, dmers is passionate about supporting Etsy's many talented artists and shop owners.

"I don't have a shop but I'm crazy about making treasuries!."

Dmers passion for Etsy has even been passed down to her daughter, Ashley Mersereau, who runs the Etsy shop Roots and Wings Jewelry. Ashley creates handcrafted jewelry and art out of her studio in Nehalem, OR.

"I am just now, in my late twenties, beginning to fully identify with the title of  'Artist', but for as long as I can remember I have had my hands in something; drawing, painting, writing, photographing and coloring the world around me."

Please take the time to browse dmers favorites, and Ashley's shop Roots and Wings Jewelry, on Etsy.

Curated Treasury: "w h i s p e r e d . d r e a m"

through the secret door I caught a gleam
of a whispered dream
I stretched out my finger
in hope it may linger
but is evaporated like morning dew
and with it echoes of you

~ Cecilia and Eyal Lind-Binyamini from StudioLind

Today we're featuring the treasury "w h i s p e r e d . d r e a m", curated by Brian Western from Western Art Glass, of Minneapolis, MN. Brian transforms discarded glass bottles, and scrounged pieces of stained glass, into memories, dreams and floating clouds.

"I'm the slightly rumpled fellow--wandering through the cosmos with a puzzled/quizzical/out-of-focus look on my face...noticing interesting shapes and contours..thinking about glass and light..lines diverging and converging...the meaning of life.

Originally from Canada, Brian’s brother taught him the nuts and bolts of stained glass art. But Brian’s designs are uniquely his, reflecting nature’s beauty through reclaimed amber beer bottles made into honeycomb jewelry, or dancing-leaf mobiles.

Brian’s specialty is custom-made designs made to order, for anyone from brides to entomologists (his beautiful birds, bees, bugs, and insects are accurately depicted). This is JEWELRY for the home and, as Brian would say, "For your earlobes and clavicle."

"So many little stories...daughters remembering their fathers taking them fishing and selecting fish from my stained glass stringer...a son who recently selected an elm leaf mobile for his parents, as an ode to an elm tree that had to be removed from their backyard...the nurse who caught an enormous catfish, only to lose the snapshot after the catfish was released, asking to immortalize this moment in art glass...a prose poet/wood worker/bookkeeper remembers an encounter with a diminutive owl, and collaborates with little sketches and natural history snippets to realize that memory by modifying one of my existing designs...the entomologist who requested an anatomically correct female deer tick...and on and on."

Please take the time to browse Western Art Glass on Etsy.

Also, visit Cecilia, at StudioLind, whose beautiful poetry introduced this treasury. Cecilia and Brian often collaborate on treasuries with their complementary art forms.

We encourage you to visit all of the shops and artists featured in this treasury, explore the variety of their work, and learn more about them.

Curated Treasury: "Featured Picks #vogueteam #voguet"

Our featured Etsy treasury, "Featured Picks #vogueteam #voguet", has been curated by Pat, from Lakeside Cottage, of Roanoke, VA. Pat has filled Lakeside Cottage with a fabulous assortment of rustic, shabby chic, industrial, mid century, and mod, antique and vintage items.

Pat's treasury spotlights the wonderful vintage finds of Cleaver White, from the Etsy shop Layton and Everett Vintage, in Beacon, NY.

Cleaver White, owner of Layton and Everett Vintage, is a self-described, "Genealogist by day, vintage collector by night." Cleaver's goal is to ensure the customer is always happy.

"One of my first jobs was working for a national retail chain, pushing products that were not made with care, and trying to get buyers to open store credit cards. I lasted three weeks before walking away, disillusioned by the chain store mentality.

Etsy has restored my faith that shopping can, and should be, a lovely experience. My hope is every individual who buys an items from Layton and Everett, has a smile on their face, and feels happy, when they open their mail and see the piece they selected"

Along with fantastic vintage finds like books, china and more, Cleaver has amassed an amazing collection of vintage costume jewelry.

"When I moved to Manhattan, my collection of Trifari pieces grew and continues growing. What started as just a personal treasure hunt, then moved into collecting Jomaz and Boucher pieces. There is such detailed artistry behind each piece. The line of a piece that is designed by a master, such as Alfred Philippe, makes you stop and stare…"

We also encourage you to take the time to visit Lakeside Cottage, and all of the shops of the artists featured in this treasury, explore the variety of their work, and learn more about them.

Curated Treasury: "Brave: Leslie Zemenek"

Our featured Etsy treasury, "Brave: Leslie Zemenek", spotlights the gorgeous, bold, art jewelry of Leslie Zemenek, from the Etsy shop Leslie Zemenek Jewelry, in Portland, OR.

Through Leslie Zemenek Jewelry, Leslie Zemenek shares her handmade, bold, metal and gemstone jewelry. Leslie has been making art since, "I was old enough to hold a pencil."

"When I was 12 years old I read a quote from Oscar Wilde that changed my life: “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” I took it very seriously. During most of my life I either made art, wore art or lived artfully, but only recently did I figure out how to do it all at the same time.

I started dreaming my designs in my sleep, more than I could possibly produce in my waking hours. I can't say whether I'm having more fun at night dreaming new designs or during the day working at my bench making them real. And I'm not even sure it matters!"

Please take the time to browse Leslie Zemenek Jewelry on Etsy.

Curated Treasury: "Use Your Imagination"

Our featured Etsy treasury for today is curated by Stef Bauer, from the Etsy shop oneeyedgirls, in Los Angeles, CA.

Through oneeyedgirls, Stef Bauer shares with us her original abstract paintings and drawings, and prints from originals. Stef has also begun to do mixed media pieces with watercolor and ink. The artwork in oneeyedgirls is, at once, modern, decorative, emotive and colorful.

"I love to create paintings and drawings, a bit like a visual journal. I am fascinated by colors and patterns coming up with new ones in my spare time; and most inspired by the viewers emotional response to these ... I am driven by the small silent moments where one reveals oneself.

My pieces come from the multi-cultural experience LA provides, and the waves that arise of varied emotions from living in this city."

When you visit oneeyedgirls, you will also come across some of the eponymous "characters" that Stef has created. A few of the One Eyed Girls® you might chance upon are Lina Listening to the Trees, Sia Strolling in the Almost Fall, or Lilly Walking with The Sun.

"The idea for the One Eyed Girls came one day in June, 2008, when I wished to express emotions from the intuitive or third eye; and began simply and gradually expressing all different emotions in all different types of the feminine; balancing them with only one eye became a challenging game and before long, one became many. Music is my muse, and my images, and mood created, often springs from the songs I'm listening to."

In addition to creating her unique works of art, and curating oneeyedgirls, Stef is also a Residential Paint Color Consultant/Designer. You can find her professional profile at www.stefbauer.com.

Curated Treasury: "Welcome, Monday"

Our featured Etsy treasury for today is curated by Pat, from the Etsy shop LakesideCottage, located in the Roanoke, VA, area.

Pat has filled LakesideCottage with a curated collection of vintage and antique items that defies a single label.

How does Pat describe her collection at LakesideCottage?

"Rustic. Refined. Shabby. Chic. Industrial, Mechanical. Mid-century. Mod. Fine China. Pottery. Primitive. Antique. Vintage."

Pat came to Etsy after a career as a senior executive of a nonprofit that honors children wounded by broken homes, absent parents, homelessness, ignorance, poverty, violence, crime, and abuse.

Much like in Pat's career, serving to help those who might otherwise be forgotten, LakesideCottage is a haven for items from our past that might be lost or forgotten.

"I have filled my homes with antiques and vintage items for years and nothing gives me more pleasure than to rescue an item and bring it back to life. What some might consider junk, I consider part of our history. What some consider old, I consider a jewel of craftsmanship, difficult to find in a disposable society. Curated Treasury: "Love and Marriage"

Our featured Etsy treasury for today is curated by Debra Boudreau, from the Etsy shop BoudreauCollection, located in Pasadena, CA.

What do you do if, after a lifelong search, you find, and marry, the love of your life. Then, shortly after the wedding, you discover ... The Basement.

If you're Debra Boudreau, you open the Etsy shop BoudreauCollection.

"Shortly after the wedding he mentioned that, carefully packed and stored beneath his hundred-year-old Craftsman house, was a treasure trove. He and his late wife had spent years traveling, searching and collecting in pursuit of their shared dream of opening an antique store. They never got around to opening that store but, judging by that basement, they certainly could have!

"As a museum executive, a history buff - and, yes, a fellow collector - I set about the task of opening those basement doors, freeing those wonderful treasures from storage and sending them back out into the world.

That is what you’ll find in the BoudreauCollection (along with some antiques of my own) as I endeavor to combine the households of two lifelong collectors. The task has proven to be both daunting and a great deal of fun. Please take a look!"

The BoudreauCollection is a magnificently curated variety of items. Debra has brought together everything from tramp art, to elegant Czech glass. Inside the BoudreauCollection, you will even find Victorian items living happily side-by-side with exceptional modern pieces.

Here is just a small sampling of the items you will find when you visit BoudreauCollection.
